Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers, no runaround. Don't see your question? Call or text — we'll give it to you straight.
Why is my AC running but blowing warm air?
The most common causes are a dirty air filter, a refrigerant leak, a failed capacitor, or a tripped breaker on the outdoor unit. Some of these are cheap fixes — swap the filter and check your breaker first. If it's still blowing warm, call or text us and describe what's happening; we can often tell you what it likely is before we come out.
Should I repair my system or replace it?
A good rule of thumb: if the system is over 12–15 years old and the repair costs more than a third of a new system, replacement usually wins on math because of energy savings and avoiding the next repair. If it's younger or the fix is minor, repair it. We quote both options honestly — we fix what can be fixed instead of selling what can't.
How much does a new AC or furnace cost?
In the Los Angeles area, most full AC replacements land between $7,000 and $15,000 installed depending on the size of your home, the efficiency rating, and ductwork condition. Furnaces typically run $4,000 to $8,000. We give you a firm written quote before any work starts — the number you approve is the number you pay.
How often should I service my system?
Twice a year: the AC in spring before the heat arrives, the furnace in fall before you need it. Regular tune-ups catch small problems while they're cheap, keep energy bills down, and most manufacturers require documented maintenance to honor their warranty.
How long does a new system installation take?
Most straightforward replacements are done in a single day. If the job includes ductwork repairs or a new furnace and AC together, it can run into a second day. We confirm the timeline in your quote so you know exactly what to expect.
Do I need a permit to replace my HVAC system in Los Angeles?
Yes — HVAC replacements in LA and most surrounding cities require a mechanical permit, and unpermitted work can cause real problems when you sell your home. We handle the permit and the inspection as part of the job, so you don't have to think about it.
What does your service call include?
The service call covers a full diagnostic: we find the actual problem, explain it in plain English, and give you an exact price to fix it before any work begins. If you approve the repair, the diagnostic fee goes toward the work.
Do you charge extra for nights and weekends?
We offer 24/7 emergency service, and maintenance plan members never pay overtime rates. For non-members, we tell you the full price up front when you call — no surprises when the truck arrives.
What brands do you service?
All major brands — Carrier, Trane, Lennox, Rheem, Goodman, American Standard, Bryant, Day & Night, and more. If it heats or cools a home, we've almost certainly worked on it.
What's included in the maintenance plan?
Two full tune-ups a year (AC in spring, heating in fall), priority same-day scheduling when something breaks, a discount on all repairs, and no overtime charges ever. It's the cheapest insurance your HVAC system can have — ask us for current plan pricing.
